Builds on Leadership in Electric and Propane-Powered School Buses

MACON, Ga. (Jan. 4, 2024) – Blue Bird Corporation (Nasdaq: BLBD), the leader in electric and low-emission school buses, today announced the expansion of its alternative fuels team to build on the company’s leadership in electric and propane-powered student transportation. Blue Bird appointed Steve Whaley and Brad Beauchamp, two accomplished business leaders and veteran subject matter experts, to alternative fuels managers.

Steve Whaley joined the iconic school bus manufacturer from the Propane Education & Research Council, a leading nonprofit that invests in the research and development of new propane-powered technologies, where he served as Director of Autogas Business Development since Dec. 2019. Before then, Whaley operated his own clean energy transportation consulting company for nearly five years. Prior to that, as eastern U.S. regional sales manager for Agility Fuel Solutions, he helped develop class 7 and 8 vehicle fleet markets for natural gas. Whaley also trained and supported heavy-duty truck dealers with their fleet customers’ adoption of CNG and LNG technologies. He formerly served as Director of Business Development for Roush CleanTech and oversaw propane autogas research and business development for Blossman Propane.

Whaley holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial arts education from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University, and a master’s degree in industrial education from Clemson University.

Brad Beauchamp joined Blue Bird from ZEVX, a leader in intelligent electric vehicle (EV) systems and infrastructure, where he served as Director of Product Management. For nearly 28 years, Beauchamp held various positions of increasing responsibility with General Motors leading alternative fuels and large-scale infrastructure projects. This included the role of Director of EV Solutions at BrightDrop, a GM business to electrify and improve the delivery of goods and services. Before then, Beauchamp successfully held business development positions at FCA and Roush CleanTech. He also served in a project management role with the U.S. Department of Energy to advance vehicle fleet and infrastructure developments.

Beauchamp holds a bachelor of science degree in Industrial Engineering from Central Michigan University and a master in business administration degree with a focus on global management from the University of Phoenix.

“Blue Bird continues to expand its leadership in electric and propane-powered school buses by growing its alternative fuels team,” said Britton Smith, president of Blue Bird Corporation. “With Steve Whaley and Brad Beauchamp we have attracted two accomplished business leaders and renowned experts in alternative fuels and supporting infrastructure projects.
